Solutions to Grid Challenges

  • Industry Best Lead Time: RS maintains a large module inventory. Standard leads times are 4-6 weeks. Emergency response can be as little as 48 hours.
  • No Scheduled Maintenance: With integrated UV protection, RS poles require no scheduled maintenance to achieve their 80 year service life. RS pole inspection is fast and non-invasive.
  • Hurricane Protection: Strong RS poles absorb energy and harden the grid against hurricane damage. RS poles have a 41 year wind damage warranty.
  • Non-Conductive Poles: RS poles are non-conductive. Tested by Kinectrics Lab (Ontario, Canada), RS poles have the same current leakage as a hotstick.
  • Reliable Ice Storm Performance: Strong RS poles can absorb high amounts of elastic strain energy and harden the grid against ice damage. RS poles have a 41 year ice storm warranty.
  • Environmentally Safe: RS poles are inert and do not leach harmful preservative chemicals. Tested to ASTM C1308-08 standard, test water passed US and Canadian drinking water standards.
  • Installation Flexibility: RS poles can be assembled horizontally or vertically if the installation site is constrained.

  • Fast Pole Repair: For superficial pole wall damage, a simple repair can be completed using polyurethane based spray paint, a file and sandpaper.

Note: The RS pole selector is based on CSA Grade 2 construction with a maximum AGH deflection limit of 22% at class load for tangent and self supporting poles with line angles ≤3°. The M5/6 is not shown in the module tree as it is a base only module that stacks under the M4. The AGH shown is based on a standard embedment assumption of 10% of the pole height plus 2 ft. [0.61m] for poles 40 ft. [12.2m] and over and 10% plus 2.5 ft. [0.76m] for poles less than 40 ft. [12.2m]. The RS pole selector is for demonstration purposes only.
